Sakoieta' playing flute at the Grand Canyon. This was a hard picture to take since tourists either wanted to take pictures or be in the picture.

One of the fancy flutes I used to make and carve, a genuine one of a kind, Peace Tree Fancy Flute. This flute was made for one of the chiefs of one of the local reserves. I don't know if he ever played it or learned to play it. I think he just wanted to own something that was a one of a kind piece of "art". Too bad. I played this flute before selling it to him and it's sound just made the hair on your arms and back of your neck stand up because of the mellowness and beauty of it.

Sakoieta' and one of the plain genuine, one of a kind, Peace Tree Flutes. Truly, the "Sound of Native North America". This picture was taken just shortly before a performance, standing back stage, trying not to act like one of the "big shots." This was one of my working flutes with a truly beautiful sound and tone. It too is no longer with me. A friend of mine asked for one of my flutes and since I was no longer making them, due to a move and relocation, I gave him this one. I hope he learns to play it. These flutes need to be played to continue to honor the spirit of the flute.

Sakoieta' in the Shenandoah Mountains in Virginia, getting ready to do the flute fills for the movie, "Journey Towards Forgiveness". (http://www.journeytowardforgiveness.com/) This movie was done as an aftermath to the Oklahoma City Bombings that took place and how those bombings affected individuals lives and beliefs. It also speaks to the Cheyenne people and their treatment at the hands of the United States Cavalry. Don't ever let anyone tell you it is always warm down south. When we did the flute pieces for this movie as the sun got lower and lower it got extremely COLD with a biting wind. It made it hard to not only play the flute but to even hold it. I was worried about the cold temperatures damaging the flute. The Creator must have wanted this done because everything worked out okay. Niawenhko:wa.

Sakoieta' playing flute at Kani Kanichik's "Honoring the Grandmother's" Awards Night. This was a night in which the Aboriginal Community of Winnipeg and surrounding areas honors our female Aboriginal Elders who have made a distinct difference in the lives of the Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal community. I was on my best behavior that night.
